Metropolitan Hilarion told about the plans of the Russian Orthodox Church to make Sergiev Posad the spiritual center of the country

"The idea to create such a spiritual and cultural, spiritual and educational center in Sergiev Posad is an idea, on the one hand, bold, but on the other hand, the idea is very important and timely," Metropolitan Hilarion said.

He notes that such a center is already the Trinity-Sergius Lavra, but in the city in which it is located, infrastructure is poorly developed, and this issue must be solved at the state level.

The Metropolitan emphasizes that both the state and the church will participate in the implementation of this project, and adds that the interests of local residents will also be taken into account.
