It is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to a source in the Foreign Ministry of Libya.

"The Foreign Minister will go to Moscow on an official visit, which will last several days, during which he will meet with a number of Russian officials to discuss the current situation and military escalation in the capital Tripoli," the source said.

On April 4, it became known that Marshal Khalifa Haftar ordered his army to launch an offensive against Tripoli, which is currently under the control of the Government of National Accord.

On April 23, Haftar’s troops announced the start of a second phase of the offensive on the Libyan capital.

Head of the Department of Political Science and Sociology of the Russian University of Economics named after G.V. Andrei Koshkin Plekhanov, in an interview with PolitEkspert, stated that Haftar is positioning himself as a land collector and that taking Tripoli for him is the final stage in the process of achieving this goal.
