Dr. Ayman Al-Hayek, an orthodontist at Al-Wahda Medical Complex in the Qatari capital, said: "The transparent calendar is a type of orthodontic treatment that is requested by people who want the calendar not to be visible.

Dr. Iman said in a meeting with Al Jazeera Net on Friday, during the second day of the first conference of Biomechanics in Orthodontics, which started on Thursday in Doha, and continues until Saturday.

She explained that the transparent calendar in general is a kind of calendar in which the blockers on which the hooks are transparent, and the calendar wire is white.

She added that this type of transparent calendar notes that the blockers are more fragile than the metal, and is subject to discoloration.

She said that the latest system in the transparent calendar is the transparent template, and in this type do not use blockers or wires, but the use of transparent plastic molds, and white fillings placed on the teeth.

The doctor takes the measurement of the person's teeth through a special camera, then plastic molds are made to be worn in a particular order, each mold worn by the person for a week, then moves to the next mold, and gradually move the teeth.

The person must wear the transparent mold 22 hours a day and be removed while eating.

And the advantage of transparent template - in addition to the theme of aesthetic appearance - it reduces the risk of gum infections and tooth decay, because the patient can remove it at any time and brush teeth and care well. On the other hand, the traditional metal or transparent calendar, which includes wires, is an obstacle and it is difficult to clean the teeth.

The first biomedical conference on orthodontics, which lasted for three days, kicked off Thursday with 160 participants from 50 countries.
