As noted, the court filed a joint petition “to schedule a hearing”, at which Butin could change his testimony and make a deal with the investigation.

Earlier in the US, the court appointed Butina’s state lawyer.

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that Moscow had sent a note to the State Department because of the stricter conditions for Butina’s detention in an American prison.

Butina was detained in the United States in July on suspicion of "working for Russia as an agent."
