The Minister stressed that, as in the past year, Syria remains the leading country among the applications filed, whose citizens sent 46 164 requests for asylum in Germany.
In the second and third places in the number of refugees are Iraq and Afghanistan.
Earlier it was reported that Germany deported a record number of migrants to other EU countries for 2018.
