“These are 500 soldiers who will supplement the mobilized forces from today, and another 1,300 who will join those who have already been mobilized on the spot the other day,” Le Figaro quoted the prime minister.
He noted that the main goal of such measures is “to ensure security in crowded places”.
Earlier, the mayor of Strasbourg, Roland Rees called the shooting in the city a terrorist act.
On December 11, a 29-year-old man opened fire near the Christmas market in the center of Strasbourg.
