The British Parliament has rejected the Brexit agreement. The majority of MEPs voted against Prime Minister Theresa May's deal with the European Union over the withdrawal of the British from the EU. An EU spokesman called the outcome regrettable. The agreement remains the best and only way for an orderly Brexit.

The decision was preceded by a passionate debate that was ended on Tuesday evening with pleadings by opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn and Prime Minister Theresa May.

Labor leader Corbyn called May's EU-negotiated agreement a "messy and harmful deal" and announced a vote of no confidence in the government. He now relies on new elections.

May said: "Any vote against this deal is a voice for insecurity, division and the very real risk of a no-deal," said May, whose last appeal to MEPs was interrupted again and again by interjections from parliamentarians.

The Prime Minister must now quickly submit a Plan B. She has three days for this - a deadline, which the deputies had just imposed on her.
