Spain's champions Barcelona have become the first football team to spend more than half a billion euros on salaries after a 42 percent increase in costs over the past year, according to a new study.

KPMG published a study analyzing the composition of each team and the financial situation of the champions of the top eight league tournaments in Europe.

The study showed that the club's salaries were estimated last year at € 622 million.

Brazilian striker Philippe Coutinho joined Liverpool in January 2018 against 160 million euros in a record deal for the club. Earlier, he signed French striker Osman Dembli and renewed many players' contracts, including Lionel Messi, Expenditure on salaries.

Paris Saint-Germain came second with 332 million euros, up 20 percent from 2017.

The spending of clubs on the list increased except for Manchester City, England, as the salaries of the team fell by 5%.

Manchester City has the most expensive team of 1.182 billion
Euro, Paris St Germain Neymar (229 million euros) and Killian Mbabey (215) are the world's most expensive, followed by Messi (203).
