In the capital of Burkina Faso, the German Chancellor called Wednesday, May 1 European countries to make more efforts for the G5 Sahel countries in the fight against the jihadists. The heads of state of the organization are especially concerned about the situation in Libya.
In Ouagadougou, Angela Merkel reviewed Germany's aid for G5 Sahel. The Chancellor assured that her country had already paid its contribution of 60 million euros.
While welcoming the efforts of Germany in the framework of the G5 Sahel, the Burkinabe president asks the Chancellor to plead for the European countries to reach an agreement on Libya. " If the Libyan issue is not resolved, all our efforts in the G5 Sahel will be in vain, " fears the head of state of Burkina Faso.
" We thought it was important that she use her leadership both in Europe and in several institutions to advocate for the G5 Sahel on all of these issues that concern us ," said Roch Marc Christian Kabore.
Sharing the opinion of G5 Sahel heads of state on Libya, Angela Merkel stressed the urgency of moving quickly to avoid chaos, because, she says, terrorists act very quickly.
" Terrorists act quickly, so we need to move faster so we do not get defeated and I agree, " she said. If chaos takes over - that's what we want to avoid - it will have an impact in other areas.
