Three alleged members of the terrorist militia "Islamic State" from Iraq are expected to go to court in Germany for crimes in their homeland. The Federal Prosecutor's Office has filed charges against men aged 27 and 29 years. They should have joined the IS in 2014 and have performed various tasks within the militia, as the agency said.

One of the men is said to have committed as a teenager 13 bloody explosives attacks. There were always dead and injured - including members of the US armed forces, Iraqi soldiers and police and civilians. In the attacks between 2006 and 2008, the accused should have been a member of the IS predecessor Islamic State in Iraq.

The second man is accused of securing executions of men, women and children on a village square. The third should have filmed, among other things, executions and punitive actions.

In mid-2015, the three defendants are said to have left the IS and shortly thereafter traveled to Germany. They were arrested last June. The men were arrested in June 2018 and have since been in custody.

The federal prosecutor's office had a fourth man arrested. The investigation against him are now closed, as further communicated.

The indictment was filed on 8 March before the State Security Senate of the Higher Regional Court of Düsseldorf. The men had been caught according to earlier information in North Rhine-Westphalia and Bavaria. The admission of the indictment is now decided by the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court.
