Thousands of Ethiopians on Sunday buried the body of Nahda Dam project manager Eng. Semeniao Bagli, who was found dead in his car last Thursday.

The funeral was attended by President Molato Tishumi and several government figures. The mourners chanted slogans calling for Qassas to the engineer who was shot dead in the head.

Last Friday, hundreds of people demonstrated in Addis Ababa to demand the killing of the director of the dam, while police opened an investigation into the incident.

Authorities found the project manager killed in his car in the main square of the capital, Addis Ababa, and said he was shot in the head.

Bakhli is one of the most important figures in his country. He supervised the construction of 12 dams in Ethiopia and has been running the Nahda Dam project since laying the foundation stone for the project in early April 2011.

The Nahdha dam, which is built on the Nile, cost four billion dollars and is one of the world's largest dams.

The dam is a key pillar in Ethiopia's efforts to develop its economy and turn it into the largest energy exporter in Africa.
