According to the new amendments, the driver, hiding from the scene of the accident, which caused serious harm to the health of the victims, can be arrested for up to four years.
At death as a result of road accident of people punishment in the form of imprisonment from two to nine years is provided.
It is noted that to date, drivers who have escaped from the accident scene can be punished only with deprivation of rights for up to one and a half years or with administrative arrest for up to 15 days.
Earlier, autoexpert Alexander Kholodov, in an interview with Channel Five, evaluated two bills that toughen the punishment for drivers who fled from the scene of the accident.
