A court of misdemeanors in Ras al-Khaimah yesterday heard the statements of four Asians accused of insulting and disdaining another Asian as "haraam" on Facebook pages due to financial disputes. The Public Prosecutor's Office charged the accused with the use of a means of social communication, «Facebook», and the attack on the victim and insult and contempt.
According to the case papers, the defendants assaulted the victim's personal page via Facebook, stole personal and family photos and posted them on the website, and wrote the word "harami" on the victim's photos.
The first defendant confessed to the court that he had written the word "harami" on the victim's images through the social media sites. The fourth defendant also admitted to publishing the photos of the victim and his grandfather. The second accused denied the charges against him. He stated that the victim had seized his money, The third accused all charges against him, and the court set the hearing on January 16 is a date to hear the defense of the defendants.
