A 37-year-old man was sentenced to 5 years in prison including a year suspended on Monday, December 3, in the court of Lisieux. He had caused a fatal accident in Saint-Pierre-sur-Dives, while driving, drunk, too fast, without insurance or license.

The facts go back to the evening of October 29, in Saint-Pierre-sur-Dives. The driver, a 37-year-old man, loses control of the car and ends up in a ditch. One of the occupants, a 42-year-old man, the owner of the vehicle, is doing pretty well. But the other passenger, their friend, dies as a result of the accident.

Drunk without license or insurance

This Monday, the driver and the owner were summoned in immediate court appearance in Lisieux. The aggravating circumstances are numerous: neither the driver nor the owner had his license. The vehicle was no longer insured and they had 3.4 g / l of blood for the pilot, and 2.88 g for the owner. The driver had recognized driving at 100-110 km / h, the tires were smooth.

The driver was sentenced to 5 years in prison including a suspended sentence and a two-year probation, with duty of care for alcohol and cannabis. The second defendant received two years in prison, including 18 months suspended. Only the driver must compensate the civil parties for their emotional loss, and pay funeral expenses.
