According to TVN24 with reference to the police, 45 thousand people came to say goodbye to the mayor.
The ceremony was attended by the President of Poland Andrzej Duda, the head of the European Council Donald Tusk, the Prime Minister Mateusz Moravetsky, as well as all living former presidents of the country - Lech Walesa, Alexander Kwasniewski, Bronislav Komorowski.
Adamovich served as mayor of Gdansk since 1998. He was re-elected for a new term in 2018.
On January 13, during a charity concert in the center of Gdansk, Adamovich was attacked by a man armed with a knife.
From his wounds, the mayor died in hospital the next day.
Duda declared a nationwide mourning for the murder of Adamovich.
