His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, opened the Embassy of the State in Bogota on the sidelines of his official visit to Colombia.

During the visit, he signed an agreement with Colombia for the mutual exemption of the prior entry visa between the UAE and Colombia for holders of ordinary passports.

In the details, HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Colombian Deputy Foreign Minister Luz Steja Hara unveiled the memorial plaque marking the inauguration of the embassy.

His Highness said that the opening of the Embassy of the UAE to Colombia comes as part of the UAE's keenness to strengthen bilateral relations and develop cooperation with Colombia in all fields.

For her part, Luz Stiga Hara said that the opening of the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates to Colombia would contribute to enhancing the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, praising the continuous development in many fields.

The opening ceremony was attended by State Ambassador to the Republic of Colombia Salem Rashed Al Owais.

Earlier, Colombian President Ivan Duki Marquez met in Bogota with His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, he and Colombian President discussed bilateral relations and means of enhancing cooperation in various fields, including political, economic, trade, social, renewable energy and food security.
