At least four people were wounded yesterday in Douala, Cameroon, according to civil society. Wounded in the repression of an unauthorized demonstration of the MRC, the party of Maurice Kamto. The opponent continues to claim victory in the last presidential election. Markets were planned in several cities of the country but in Douala, the economic capital, protesters, however few, were violently dispersed and many wounded. Civil society denounces the violence of this repression. For their part, the authorities summoned the press.

Among the wounded who were hospitalized Saturday night, Célestin Djamen, one of the leaders of the MRC, and the lawyer Michèle Ndoki, first vice-president of the women of the party. Videos testifying to the violence of the repression of these demonstrations, notably in Douala, circulated all the day on the social networks . On one of them, one of the demonstrators, lawyer Michèle Ndoki, was seen being treated in a hospital bed with two gaping wounds on her right thigh. Wounds provoked, according to various sources, by live ammunition which would have been used by the police.

She was the target! I was with her, we did not shoot at me ... We do not shoot at someone who does not threaten!

In its communication, the government has refuted this accusation

" I would like to confirm that law enforcement did not use any firearms in Douala, " said Minister of Territorial Administration Paul Atanga Nji . Any information that says otherwise is untrue and fabricated . "

The MRC, through its manifestations, is in provocation, added the minister: " The acts of provocation perpetrated by the MRC and its militants in Douala, Yaounde and Bafoussam, are facts of extreme gravity. I would even say that the RCN has crossed the red line and has crossed the threshold of tolerance. The leniency of the government should in no way be considered as a sign of weakness .

Paul Atanga Nji has completed his communication by underestimating the possibility of the temporary suspension, even definitive, of the MRC or any other party that would come in the future contravene the law.

Minister of Communication René Emmanuel Sadi and government spokesman returns on the course of these events so mainly that of Douala or the police were accused of using firearms against the demonstrators.

Several individuals, caught in the act of disrupting public order and assault, were arrested and detained. As regards Douala, some participants in this illegal march organized themselves particularly aggressively and took it upon themselves to challenge the security forces.
