The participants also had the opportunity to meet top athletes, such as basketball players from Caen BC, Stade Malherbe footballers, handballers from Caen HB and the athletic star from Maeva, Maëva Danois, French champion, vice-champion. 3,000m steeplechase, in preparation for the 2020 Olympic Games, and sponsor of this cross.

Tourism of memory: Normandy first French region

The region has welcomed more than 4 million visitors to its memory sites, out of 12 million memorial visitors identified in the country in 2017. The Normandy region ranks first by far with 4.3 million visits in 2017 in memorial sites mostly dedicated to the D-Day.

More than eight out of ten visitors stopped in Calvados (86%). The department is home to five of the top ten memorial sites in terms of attendance: the US cemetery Omaha Colleville-sur-Mer (1.3 million visits), is the most visited site in France.

Portraits of soldiers not to forget the landing in Bayeux

The D-Day Committee wants to set up a Path of Memory and Recognition for the 75th anniversary of the battle. The portraits of a thousand soldiers will be displayed in 48 municipalities from spring 2019.

Soon a museum for a great couturier in Trouville

A museum should open soon rue Rossini, Trouville-sur-Mer (Calvados). This space is dedicated to the Danish designer and designer Lars Hillingsø, creator of the Paris fashion house Lars Paris in 1974. Jean-Jacques Balouka carries this museum project. He met the great couturier at the end of his life.
