The 2019 Asian Universities Summit, hosted by the Khalifa University of Science and Technology, is being held in partnership with The Times Foundation for Higher Education, under the theme "Linking Asia and Access to the West" with the participation of UAE Minister of State for Advanced Science Sarah Al Amiri and senior executives from industry, decision makers and researchers. , To discuss the challenges and possible solutions in the academic sector, by focusing on the importance of the role of universities in economic development, through research and cooperation and building partnerships between universities of the region and Asian countries.

Dr. Aref Sultan Al Hammadi, Executive Vice President, Khalifa University for Science and Technology, stressed that the University continues to evolve into one of the world's most prestigious academic institutions in the East and West through building multi-disciplinary partnerships with a focus on academic leaders in Asia. Al Hammadi said in a press statement on the sidelines of the summit, "The summit will witness the announcement of the latest classification of the Thames Institute of Asian Universities, which aims to increase relations with universities, strengthen the acquaintance between university presidents to create opportunities for joint cooperation, In the UAE and the latest in research in the UAE ».

He explained that «Khalifa University will organize a tour of the heads of universities participating in the summit, to recognize it as a pioneer not only in the field of higher education, but in the field of research and innovation, and to see the ongoing development of the University in the research and expertise of our academic body».

For his part, the Undersecretary for Academic Affairs for Higher Education, Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Mualla, said that many UAE universities have entered the international rankings over the past years. Five years ago, there were no universities on the Times list for the best universities in the world. Today there are four universities on the list (Khalifa University, United Arab Emirates University, American University of Sharjah and Sharjah University).
