The project of an anaerobic digestion site is on the way to Maen-Roch. Couesnon Marches de Bretagne should validate the choice of the manufacturer at the end of November. Farmers wishing to join the collective can always come forward.

The biogas plant project launched in Coglais several years ago is finally on track. With the merger of the communities Couesnon Marches de Bretagne took over the torch as part of its plan Climat air territorial energy.

What is anaerobic digestion?

Natural phenomenon, the methanization makes it possible to reproduce, on a large scale, what happens in the rumen of the cow or the bottom of the ponds, namely the production of biogas from organic matter.

This gas injected into the Maen-Roch network will be sold at a regulated rate and fixed for 15 years. The implantation site is programmed near the A84, in the town of Maen-Roch in La Gournerie.

"This makes it possible to produce renewable energy, natural gas, and recover organic waste while strengthening the autonomy of farms," explains Claire Ingremeau, Project Manager for Couesnon Marches de Bretagne.

Today the project brings together a dozen farmers and some industrialists of the territory, such as Abera, Brient and Diana.

A visit to better understand

Couesnon Marches de Bretagne should validate the choice of the builder by the end of November before filing the administrative and environmental files in early 2019.

The anaerobic digestion unit could process 18,000 tonnes per year. The cost of the investment is estimated at between 4.5 and 5 million euros with public / private funding.

In order to raise awareness of this renewable energy production method, the community is organizing a visit to the Liffré biogas site on October 25, 2018 (mandatory registration on 02 99 97 71 80 and biogaz@couesnon-marchesdebretagne.fr).

"It's important to show what it really is," says Henri Rault, vice-president of Couesnon Marches de Bretagne. We must break the prejudices on the potential nuisances. "
