An earthquake of magnitude 4.2 on the Richter scale hit the Ain department. The phenomenon did not do any damage or injuries, according to the prefecture.

An earthquake of magnitude 4.2 on the Richter scale was recorded Wednesday at 18:08 in Ain said the prefecture of the department.

The epicenter of the earthquake is located some 15 kilometers from Bourg-en-Bresse, 10 kilometers deep, according to the national seismic monitoring network (RéNaSS).

"It scolded and vibrated"

According to Météo Villes, the earthquake was clearly felt by the inhabitants of the area.

"I wonder if we did not have an earthquake it scolded and vibrated but we did not feel moved, it was weird," says a user on the sector of Ambérieu-en-Bugey, about thirty kilometers from Bourg-en-Bresse.

Following this earthquake, slight shocks were also felt in the region of Macon, Saone-et-Loire. About fifty earthquakes with a magnitude greater than 4 on the Richter scale have been recorded since the beginning of the year in France (overseas included).
