Algerian media said that it was announced that the current Prime Minister Noureddine Badawi to form a caretaker government, noting that the Algerian presidency informed a large number of ministers to end their duties.

Al-Nahar television reported that the new government would be charged with running the business temporarily, with Nouruddin Badawi as prime minister.

Badawi was appointed prime minister on March 11 after his predecessor, Ahmed Ouyahia, resigned following President Abdelaziz Bouteflika's decision not to run in the presidential election amid massive protests demanding he step down.
