Two days after new historical protests against President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, the Algerian regime has still not reacted. Its room for maneuver is extremely limited to get out of the crisis.

Still no official reaction of the Algerian authorities, 48 hours after Friday's marches against the regime. The message of the Algerians is clear however: they reject the postponement of the presidential election of April 18th. Initiative that opens the way to an extension of the presidential term of Abdelaziz Bouteflika, in power since 1999.

For the Algerian sociologist Nacer Djabi, the room for maneuver becomes increasingly reduced for the Algerian power and the departure of the head of the state is more and more inevitable.

" The Bouteflika regime does not have much choice. It will surely play on the possibility of shortness of movement, but I believe that the determination of the population is there, he says. Algerians no longer want this regime. It is not up to this regime to hold elections or write a new constitution for Algerians. "

The strategy of not seeking a fifth term to extend the fourth did not work, as did the resignation of the unpopular Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia . Especially by replacing it with the current Minister of the Interior, Noureddine Bedoui, senior executive of the "system" Bouteflika. Nor is it sure that the future government , which the government promises to rejuvenate, especially with young technocrats, is enough to ease tensions.

For Nacer Djabi, the army and policymakers could " very soon realize that the population is determined and it is impossible to confront this population because we can not face fifteen million people who go out every week. These are not small groups, as was the case in 2014. We are in front of a population that is determined at the national level. It's not just Algiers, it's not just young people. It's the whole population and all over the country. I believe that things will accelerate and that the withdrawal of Bouteflika will be announced very soon .
