The Bundestag has reprimanded the CDU deputy Karin Strenz for breaching their duties. The Bundestag presidium stated that Strenz violated Parliament's rules of conduct. The deputies had to publish information "after the expiry of the notification period displayed," said the Bundestag administration.

According to "Tagesspiegel" it is about money that received Strenz on a German company from Azerbaijan. Accordingly threatens the CDU politician therefore in addition to the complaint also a fine in five-digit amount. However, before the Bureau imposed the fine, the MP could once again take a stand, as the newspaper further reported.

The SPD Bundestag member Frank Schwabe told the newspaper opposite, Strenz should "resign from their mandate because it has caused serious damage to the reputation of politics." Otherwise, the Union faction must "finally act and exclude Strenz".

Strenz had, according to a report by the Council of Europe for a consulting firm of former Member of Parliament Eduard Lintner (CSU) worked, made the lobbying work for Azerbaijan and was funded by Baku. Nevertheless, in 2015 she took part in an election observation mission of the parliamentary assembly in Azerbaijan, which violated the rules on conflicts of interest.

Strenz had not been re-nominated for the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in early 2018 because of the allegations. One of the tasks of the Council of Europe is to ensure respect for human rights in its 47 Member States. The Strasbourg-based organization includes all EU countries, but also includes countries such as Turkey, Russia or Azerbaijan.
