Syrian actress Dina Haroun died on Monday at a Damascus hospital at the age of 44 after undergoing emergency surgery. This sudden departure triggered a shock in the artistic milieu and a wide-ranging interaction on social networking platforms.

Dina underwent successful surgery at Al Assad University Hospital recently and was then transferred to the intensive care unit before her condition deteriorated.

The Syrian Artists Syndicate named the late artist in a statement, and a number of Syrian artists expressed their shock at their sudden departure, including Kunda Alloush, Nasreen Tafesh, Dima El-Gendi, Mustafa El-Khani and Mason Abu Asaad.

Social networking leaders also interacted with the death of Dina Haroun, and some attributed her death to poor health care in the country because she performed a successful operation, but died after returning to the hospital for medical review.

The late Syrian artist started her career in 2000 and presented several series, including Ahlam Deferred, Soft Thorns, Fatigue of the Path, Money Masters, Dinaat, Nudas and Stories, (Red line) and (monsters and spaya) as well as participation in a number of parts of the series (Mirrors) before the veteran actor Yasser Al-Azma.

Dina is the younger sister of actress Tollai Harun, who has participated in a number of works of art.
