“The fate of one person remains unknown”: rescuers discovered two more killed in a gas explosion at Shakhty

Rescuers found the bodies of two more victims of the gas explosion in a residential building in the city of Shakhty on January 14. Golubev himself added that about 30 people applied for accommodation in hotels. In this case, residents whose apartments will be declared unfit for further residence, the authorities will provide housing at the expense of the budget.

“For this we intend to use the opportunities of the federal programs and regional funds. The municipality is already engaged in the selection of housing. The option is not excluded that the region will allocate money, and people will independently select housing, ”said local authorities.

Compensation will affect the victims - they are going to pay from 200 to 400 thousand rubles. The families of the victims will be paid 1 million rubles. Another 10 thousand rubles will be paid to victims on Wednesday January 16th.

“Documents were issued for 79 people on the payment of material assistance in the amount of 10 thousand rubles, the money will be paid to them tomorrow, on the third day. In addition, the relevant documents are issued for payments to citizens who have suffered harm to their health, ”said Deputy Governor Vadim Artyomov.

Even during the rescue work, the threat of further collapse of the house persisted, and therefore emergency personnel had to disassemble somewhere, and somewhere to reinforce structures. And the work did not stop even for the night.

“Work continued around the clock, it was necessary to strengthen the building and hold the collapse of building structures. The tasks for today are to continue the search, determine the fate of three more people, ”Butko said after finding the body of the second dead man on the morning of January 15.

To inspect the building's structure for its sustainability, rescuers brought the Strela-P complex. Based on the analysis, it was decided that the damaged house should be restored. One of the entrances of the building was connected to the heating in the evening on January 15.

Upon the explosion in the residential building of the Mines, the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under Part 3 of Art. 109 of the Criminal Code "Causing death by negligence of two or more persons." In addition, the authorities declared January 16 a day of mourning in the city.
