Dr. Maryam Al Rissi, Executive Director of Dubai Hospital, said that the Health Authority has developed a plan to reduce waiting time for patients in specialist clinics, whether to get an appointment or wait for a doctor.

She confirmed that the plan aims to get the patient a date to meet with the doctor within 23 days, a maximum, while the waiting period within the clinic does not exceed 22 minutes.

Al-Rissi also confirmed to Emirates Al-Youm that a team at the Dubai Hospital will set up initiatives and plans to improve patient waiting time, whether for a new appointment for specialist clinics or outpatient outpatient visits.

As part of its implementation, the hospital is working on preparing monthly statistical comparisons throughout the year to monitor the improvement of appointments for all disciplines. It focuses on clinics that set appointments for patients to get a new appointment by meeting the heads of departments, And to study the possibility of reducing the waiting time, and then modify the schedules of some specialized clinics, increase the number of new clinics, and reduce the repetitive times, as needed.

She explained that «the hospital is working on the rescheduling of some specialized clinics, hoping to optimize the use of time and place, through the allocation of staff to contact new patients, and ensure attendance, and the allocation of staff to follow messages remittances to specialized clinics in the system (safety), daily, to avoid delay».

According to Al-Rissi, the hospital has taken an improved procedure to reduce waiting time for the doctor, namely to activate the time commitment system and to assign staff - as outpatient services - to help organize patients 'movement by activating the live follow-up of the doctors' schedule.

Coordination with the central team to improve waiting times in outpatient clinics and monitoring performance indicators, which helps to consolidate some policies such as non-attendance policy, registration policy, transfer policy for specialized clinics, Rephrasing the calculation of the waiting time rate for the physician interview, reviewing the list of specialized clinics contained in the reports, and requesting improvement of some characteristics in the safety system.

It is worth mentioning that the Authority has recently revealed the implementation of the specialized clinics building project, which will include 127 clinics, providing services to patients in 26 general medical specialties. Work on the new building will begin in three years, which will help reduce patient waiting time.
