Director of Fisheries Sustainability Department at the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, Salah Al-Rissi, said that the Ministry has included in its strategy an initiative to encourage fishermen by providing marine engines with half the value. The distribution of this support has been given priority to the full-time fishermen in the Eastern Province, Or on behalf of their children, in order to encourage them to work in the profession of fishing, and transferred to future generations, pointing to the delivery of 390 engines of 150 horsepower to fishermen in September.

He pointed out that this step came from the Ministry's keenness to highlight the economic and social importance of the fisheries sector, reduce costs to fishermen and support the fishing profession in order to promote food safety and sustainability of local production.

Al-Rissi said that the ministry is conducting direct meetings with the fishermen in their gatherings to learn about the challenges and difficulties facing them in the fishing profession and to involve them in development plans that will protect and develop the living aquatic resources.

He pointed out that the registration and licensing services of fishing boats are provided through the ministry's offices spread throughout the country. These include issuing and renewing licenses for fishing boats, nakhth licenses, aquaculture farms, import and export permits for living aquatic resources, and other related services.

He added that the ministry provides these services electronically through smart applications, as well as canceling all fees for services provided to national fishermen, in order to reduce costs, including registration fees and cancellation of the registry, issuance and renewal of licenses relating to fishing boats, And the restriction and cancellation of foreclosure on fishing boats.

Al-Rissi pointed out that fishermen and fishermen associations were allowed to set up artificial marine structures, within special specifications, to involve them in the development of living aquatic resources, which contribute to increasing stocks of fish resources.
