Egyptian security forces arrested a woman who took the life of her child after she took him out of the window of the neighbors' apartment on the third floor to the balcony of her apartment, to open her door from the inside.

A videotape showing the lady emerging from the child holding the balcony was circulating, but she was still swinging between her and the neighbor's window where the mother stood.

The mother apparently lost the keys to her apartment. She risked the child, who tried to reach the balcony with his whole body. When he could not, he screamed and screamed at his mother for fear of falling.

After a struggle, the mother managed to pull her child into the neighbors' apartment. The residential building that witnessed the incident is located in the 6th of October City, Giza Governorate, west of Cairo.

Activists called the video "Bab al-Balkuna", and the recording received thousands of comments on social networking platforms.

On Saturday, the Egyptian National Council for Childhood and Motherhood (NCCM) confirmed the mother's arrest on Saturday, saying that after the child rescue line (a government body) filed a complaint against the perpetrator, activists said the child had been placed in a care home.

According to Egyptian media reports, people who were previously involved in similar incidents were either imprisoned or fined.
