Police are confirming the identity of the couple, who are in their 70s, and have been unable to contact them since the fire.

Around 8:40 pm on the 26th, a neighbor reported to the fire department that "the house was burning violently" in Nakagoya, Tobetsu Town, Hokkaido.



Nine fire engines were dispatched to extinguish the fire, and the fire was extinguished after about six hours, but one house was almost completely burned down, and two people were found dead from the burnt ruins.



According to police, two couples in their 70s live in the house and have been unable to contact them since the fire.



The police will proceed to confirm the identity of the body, and on the 27th, they will conduct a site inspection with the fire department to investigate the cause of the fire in detail.



The site is an area of ​​rice paddies and fields about 10 kilometers northeast of the center of Tobetsu Town.
