The book, whose original title is "Spare", sold over 1.4 million copies on the first day alone in the US, UK and Canada.

The previous record was held by Barack Obama's book "A Promised Land", which sold 887,000 copies on the day of publication.

The conflict with Prince William

In "The Other", Prince Harry writes, among other things, about the grief after Princess Diana's death, about the conflicts with his brother Prince William, about his experiences with cocaine and about how many people he killed as a soldier in Afghanistan, but also about what led to he broke with the British royal house and settled in the United States.

In connection with the book release, the prince has given several high-profile television interviews.

Criticism after the Netflix series

Johan T Lindwall, editor-in-chief of Svensk damtidning, has called the book for its frankness unique and sensational, but also disturbing.

In December, the Netflix documentary "Harry & Meghan" was also released, which follows the lives of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

The series has provoked strong reactions and received criticism in the British media for giving a skewed image.

The prince couple themselves believe that in the series they give their view of what actually happened.
