Yokohama City has decided to strengthen support measures, such as distributing free tickets for temporary custody at nursery schools for child-rearing households from the new year, in order to stop future population decline.

According to Yokohama City, the city's population, which had been increasing until now, has decreased by more than 4,000 people in 2021.

This is the first time since the war that it has decreased.

The city of Yokohama has decided to include measures to strengthen child-rearing support in the budget proposal for the new fiscal year in order to stop future population decline.

Specifically,

▽ We will record more than 2.4 billion yen for initiatives such as distributing free tickets for temporary custody at nursery schools for households with children born after April this year.

In addition,

▽We will record more than 1.7 billion yen in order to promote the use of projects where people who want to leave their children and those who are entrusted with them register as members and work on child-rearing in cooperation with the community.

In addition,

approximately 300 million yen will be allocated for housing support for child-rearing households, such as a model project that subsidizes 1 million yen for only 100 households raising children who purchase new homes.

Yokohama City will submit the initial budget proposal for the new fiscal year, which includes these support measures, to the city council held at the end of this month.
