The reporter learned from the Shanghai police on the 21st that recently, the Shanghai police had cracked China's first case of script copyright infringement, involving more than 50 million yuan (RMB, the same below).

  The Shanghai Public Security Bureau, in conjunction with relevant administrative law enforcement departments, and with the assistance of the local public security organs, carried out centralized network collection operations in many places in China, arrested 39 criminal suspects in the whole process of pirated printing, online distribution, and offline stores, and investigated and dealt with the production of pirated scripts There were 3 factories, 15 warehouses and sales dens were destroyed, and more than 80,000 boxes of pirated scripts to be sold were seized.

  In July 2022, the Shanghai Municipal Public Security Bureau's Food and Drug Environmental Investigation Corps discovered through network inspections that some script-killing game scripts with prices far below the market price appeared on the e-commerce platform.

For example, an ordinary boxed book with an official issue price of around 500 yuan is sold by an online store at a price of around 50 yuan under the promotional slogan of "1:1 reproduction", which is suspected of infringement.

  The police set up a special case team to carry out investigations, and locked more than 10 online stores that sold such scripts at low prices and boxed scripts, and found out that the scripts they sold were all pirated.

Starting from these counterfeit online stores, the task force traced upwards to the source of the production of pirated scripts and downwards to the offline stores that purchased pirated scripts. Following the line, they dug up a source located in a certain place in Zhejiang, led by Su and Lin. The industrial chain of infringement crimes in multiple links such as printing, packaging, warehousing, and sales.

  After investigation by the police, since May 2021, the criminal suspect Su Mou, together with Lin Mou, who has been engaged in the printing industry for a long time, purchased genuine scripts from online platforms and killed boxed scripts without the authorization of the copyright owner since May 2021. Under the condition of permission, through a packaging product company under the name of Lin, Yang and other suspects were hired to carry out a 1:1 pirated copy design of the original script killing packaging gift box.

Later, Su and Lin rented factory buildings and warehouses in Zhejiang, and hired Chen and others to pirate and print more than 300 scripts and boxed scripts.

As of the incident, the gang has printed more than 100,000 boxes of pirated scripts.

  On September 21, 2022, the Shanghai police launched a centralized network collection operation to smash the criminal gang headed by Su and Lin who reproduced and distributed pirated scripts. Nine suspects were arrested on the spot, and the volume of pirated scripts and boxed scripts reached 2,000. Cubic meters, with a total weight of more than 100 tons.

  At the same time, the police, in conjunction with cultural law enforcement and other administrative departments, arrested Xiao and other 27 downstream suspects who sold counterfeit goods, and dug out a number of offline stores that bought pirated scripts in Shanghai for profit.

According to the police, the above-mentioned offline stores have been transferred by the police to the administrative department according to law. For the three offline store operators who sold pirated scripts for the second time, the police have taken criminal compulsory measures against them according to law. For offline stores in the city, the police will report the clues to the relevant provincial and municipal departments for investigation.

  At present, Su Mou and other four main criminal suspects have been arrested by the police in accordance with the law on suspicion of copyright infringement, and the remaining criminal suspects have been released on bail pending trial in accordance with the law.
