This sculpture by Joseph Chinard (1756-1813) and called “Le Silence” represents a pensive young woman, draped in an antique tunic.

According to the magazine Interenchères, it is a copy of a statue made by Louis XIV Pierre Le Gros.

Estimated between 400,000 to 500,000 euros

The work rests on a mahogany plinth and features an inscription in golden letters, which makes it the guardian of sleep and the allegory of silence.

The sculpture was estimated between 400,000 to 500,000 euros.

Sold for nearly 920,000 euros, it becomes the most expensive work of Joseph Chinard in the world, specifies La République de Seine-et-Marne.
