The weather on Saturday will remain very hot in France, with however the arrival of a stormy disturbance from the South-West, according to Météo-France.

Eighteen departments are on orange alert.

Sixteen departments on the Atlantic and South-West coast are on orange heat wave vigilance, while the two departments of Corsica are on orange vigilance for thunderstorms.

In Corsica, the violent storms that occurred during the night evacuated quickly in the morning to give way to drier weather except in the mountains where in the afternoon, by diurnal evolution, thunder could still be heard.

Elsewhere on the Mediterranean coasts, the day will start under skies alternating between clouds and clearings, the latter prevailing over the Côte d'Azur.

Always over 20 degrees at night

On the Atlantic side, the sky will be rather gray in the early morning on the coast.

Clouds will gain ground in the afternoon.

A stormy degradation will then take place in the Pyrenees before spreading in the evening to the plains of Occitanie and New Aquitaine.

The clouds will reach as far as the Pays de la Loire and Brittany, where some stormy showers will also be possible.

On the rest of the regions of the northern half and further east, sunny weather will remain dominant.

Temperatures will remain very hot overnight, often with 18 to 21 degrees on the Atlantic coast and the Southwest, 21 to 24 degrees around the Mediterranean.

It is 13 to 18 degrees in the northeast, 15 to 20 elsewhere on the northern half.

The maximum will be between 30 and 35 degrees on the northeast quarter, on the Mediterranean rim and on the Atlantic coast where the heat will begin to subside, with even 25 to 29 degrees on the Aquitaine coasts.

We are still expecting 36 to locally 39 degrees in the interior of the Loire Valley, New Aquitaine and Occitanie.
