The Spanish Minister for Equal Opportunities wanted to encourage women to enjoy the summer carefree on the beach.

You should stand by your body, even if it's not perfect.

"Summer is here for everyone," says the campaign poster, which shows five women by the sea and became a media fiasco.

The women are not of average slenderness, one is unshaven, another is shirtless and has a scarred breast after a mastectomy.

The poster, designed by the artist Arte Mapache, shows "real and different women", said the responsible institute, which wanted to combat "stereotypes" and "aesthetic violence against our bodies".

Who owns the women's bodies?

Exactly this allegation is now being made against the Ministry of Equal Opportunities, to which the Women's Institute is subordinate: She "trembled with anger" when friends drew her attention to it, wrote the British model Sian Green-Lord on Instagram.

After an accident, the thirty-two-year-old had a leg amputated.

Without obtaining the rights, Arte Mapache used an image posted online of her in a bikini as a model for the reclining woman in the poster (our image) - instead of her prosthesis, she drew her leg, and she now has hair on her legs and under the armpit.

In the meantime, two other Britons, who recognized themselves on the poster, came forward.

One of them is the grey-haired woman who actually had both breasts removed.

"The Spanish government used my picture without permission," Nyome Nicholas-Williams, a well-known plus-size model, also complained on Instagram.

That is disrespectful and shows that women still do not own their own bodies.

A British photographer also complained that her copyrighted photos were used without permission.

The Women's Institute and the Ministry have since apologized.

Posters and information about the initiative have now disappeared from their websites.

According to Arte Mapache, it is trying to obtain the rights afterwards and wants to share the fee of 5,000 euros with the women.
