They no longer fly and are stored in long-term car parks in Spain and France.

But the Lufthansa A380s have not said their last word.

The German company announced on Monday its intention to return to service its behemoths of the air "in the summer of 2023".

This, “due to a sharp increase in demand and delays in the delivery of ordered devices”.

It does not yet say how many A380s it intends to put back in the circuit, or to which destinations, but, of the 14 wide-body aircraft it stored in September 2020, in the midst of a health crisis, six have already been sold.

Eight could therefore in theory make their comeback in a year, the date estimated by the company for the “normalization” of air traffic.

🎉 How many A380s will take off again and which destinations will be served is still to be decided.

In the meantime, the 2022 summer season promises to be complicated for Lufthansa, which has already announced the elimination of 3,000 flights due to a lack of staff, strikes, and Covid-19.

Airbus has decided to stop manufacturing the largest civilian aircraft in the world.

The final copy of the A380 rolled off the assembly lines in Toulouse at the end of 2021.
