Overfishing is one of the dangers threatening the seas.
The Mediterranean is not spared.
According to a 2020 FAO report, despite an improvement, three-quarters of the fish populations there were still overfished.
Management plans are put in place… sometimes at the cost of friction with the fishermen.
So for a few years, Catalonia has been experimenting with a model of shared management... where fishermen, scientists, NGOs and local authorities sit at the same table and decide together.
