Al-Waleed bin Talal welcomes his "new friend" and the excellent leader of "Twitter"

Saudi businessman Al-Waleed bin Talal welcomed Elon Musk's acquisition of "Twitter", describing him as a new friend and an excellent leader of the site, and announced that he would retain his stake in the site.

In an interview with Musk on Twitter, bin Talal said: "It is great to communicate with you, my new friend, Elon Musk. I believe that you will be an excellent leader for Twitter to advance and maximize its potential."

"Kingdom Holding Company and I look forward to retaining our $1.9 billion stake in the new Twitter, and joining you on this exciting journey," added the Saudi investor, who previously rejected Musk's offer to buy the micro-blogging site.

Bin Talal had rejected Musk’s offer, and wrote on Twitter on April 14: “I do not think that the proposed offer from Elon Musk (to buy Twitter) for $54.20 per share comes close to the intrinsic value of the price given its growth prospects, and since I am one of the largest shareholders. On Twitter, I decline this offer."
