The Hakata Dontaku Port Festival, which had been canceled due to the effects of the new coronavirus, began on the 3rd in Fukuoka City for the first time in 3 years.

One of the three major festivals in Hakata, the Hakata Dontaku Port Festival, is a festival that originated in Hakata Matsubayashi, which has a tradition of more than 800 years.

The festival was canceled last year due to the influence of the new coronavirus, but this year started in Fukuoka City on the 3rd for the first time in 3 years.

At the 125-meter-long street stage of Hakata Ekimae Street in front of JR Hakata Station, participants danced and performed in the morning, and applause was given by the people who packed the roadside.

From 1:00 pm, a parade will be held to start the "Dontaku Square" in the center of Fukuoka City, and about 8,000 people from about 100 groups will participate, which is about half of the average year.

A man who lived in Fukuoka City, who was visiting with his family, said, "I came with my child before the corona spread, but I think my child has forgotten. It's an important event for Fukuoka people, so I can see it for the first time in three years. I'm glad I was able to do it. "

The festival is held for two days, 3rd and 4th.
