The Sharjah International Film Festival for Children and Youth, organized by the Fann Foundation, which is concerned with promoting and supporting media art for children and young people in the UAE, has opened the door for registration in the “Qualifying Promising Arbitrators” program, until next May 15, in support of the participation of talented children and youth and developing their taste in film arbitration Within the categories of children and youth in the ninth session of the festival, which will start next October.

The Foundation requires applicants from the children and youth categories to be between 12 and 20 years old, of both sexes, who possess passion and talent in the cinematic field, and have speaking and communication skills with others and a love of cooperation and participation.

After closing the registration door, the festival administration will choose between 40 and 50 participants to join the “Qualifying Promising Arbitrators” workshop, which will be organized from July until the beginning of next October. The first workshop includes introducing the festival and introducing former promising arbitrators and the role of the promising arbitrator. Next, the second workshop includes training participants to watch a group of professional films and learn how to analyze films. It will be held from 15 to 18 August.

It will be followed by the third workshop, which includes each judge’s analysis of a film of his choice, and training in selecting the winning film, and will be held during the period from 12 to 15 next September. The last workshop On the ninth of October, a workshop will be held for the preparations for the opening ceremony of the festival.

Sheikha Jawaher bint Abdullah Al Qasimi, Director of the Art Foundation and the Sharjah International Film Festival for Children and Youth, said: “Advancing the future of the film industry in the UAE and the region requires investing in new generations of creators, children and youth, whether at the level of filmmaking, criticism and evaluation, and developing their standards. To appreciate the qualitative and distinctive of them, that is why the festival continues its vision in developing and supporting children and young film creators, by opening the way for them to learn and gain the experiences of film judges, so that the festival will be a comprehensive and wide platform for them to professionalize the film industry.”

She added: "The invitation is open to all children and youth who wish to participate, who have the passion to learn and professionalize the skills and criteria for evaluating films, to stand on their aesthetics and strengths. We at (Fan) look forward to creating a large community of new filmmakers, through which creators communicate, and exchange experiences and expertise. They are exposed to new cultures, arts and technologies.
