Tensions continue in the occupied West Bank.

A Palestinian was killed by Israeli soldiers in Nablus, in the northern West Bank, on the fifth day of military operations in the occupied territories, the Palestinian Ministry of Health reported on Wednesday (April 13th).

"Mohammad Hassan Mohammad Assaf, 34, died after being shot in the chest by the Israeli occupation army during the assault on the city of Nablus," the Palestinian ministry said.

The Israeli army did not immediately comment, but had earlier claimed to carry out "counter-terrorist operations" in Nablus and elsewhere in the West Bank.

According to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, 31 people were injured in the Nablus area and in the nearby village of Beita.

Among them, 10 were injured by live ammunition.

Fear of tensions on the eve of Passover

These military operations come after four attacks perpetrated in Israel since March 22, the first two by Israeli Arabs linked to the Islamic State (IS) organization and the last two by Palestinians from the Jenin sector.

These attacks resulted in a total of 14 deaths.

During the same period, 16 Palestinians, including assailants, were killed in violence, according to an AFP tally.

Israel Public Radio reported that soldiers entered Nablus to escort Israeli workers tasked with repairing damage caused by Palestinians a few days ago to the alleged grave of Joseph, the son of Patriarch Jacob.

Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said on Sunday that he "will not let such an attack on a holy site pass on the eve of Passover".
