Survivors of the fire disaster in Inhyeon-dong, why did you respond to the interview?

On the 7th, SBS 'Tale of Biting Tails' (hereinafter 'Kkokomu'), lit up the fire disaster in Inhyeon-dong with the subtitle 'No one came out: 1999 Inhyeon-dong Live'.

On October 30, 1999, Suyeon and Jinseoni in Inhyeon-dong, Incheon went to the pub 'Live', which is called a hangout for teenagers.

Many children flocked to this place by allowing teenagers to enter without ID checks.

Suyeon, who was spending time with her friends, went to an underground shopping mall for a while and met another friend.

But at this time, a smell like tear gas started coming out from somewhere.

And soon there was talk of a fire on the ground.

And Suyeon rushed to his friends to hear that the place of fire was a live hop house where Suyeon had been living a while ago.

And the firefighters got the fire report and immediately arrived at the live.

Firefighters who entered the building after putting out a large flame were astonished by the shocking scene.

When I opened the closed door of the pub, too many people were lying on the floor.

In particular, in the bathroom, there were people on top of people and people on top of them, and dozens of people were entangled.

Firefighters quickly rescued people.

And Jinseon, who Sooyeon was looking for, was also brought out by the firefighters.

And she was immediately taken to the hospital.

However, Soo-yeon could not meet Jin-seon again.

A total of 57 people, including Jin Seon-i, were killed in this fire, making it the third largest fire accident in Korean history.

But the more I looked at this accident, the more strange it became.

All but one dead were teenagers, and in the three-story building, all but one in the karaoke room on the basement floor where the fire started came from a pub.

What the hell happened there, so the children couldn't escape the fire?

On the day of the accident, interior work was carried out in the underground karaoke room.

In this construction where flame-retardant urethane foam had to be used, the owner used non-flame-retardant urethane foam to save money.

And this was a very high risk of fire.

The owner, who ordered all this, is 34-year-old Jung, the owner of a karaoke bar and a pub.

He is called the young chaebol in Inhyeon-dong and runs eight stores.

And his main customer base was teenagers.

In the middle of downtown, Jung ran a pub for teenagers without ID checks.

He even advertised in front of the school, and even actively solicited, such as giving free tickets to PC rooms if he used Hope House.

As a result, the pub he operated became a youth-only pub and filled with customers every day.

On the day of the accident, it was revealed that there were about 120 customers in the pub with a size of 50 pyeong.

On that day, in the underground karaoke room, teenage part-timers cleaned up the things left behind by the workers.

Because of the thinner left behind by the worker, the karaoke room suddenly filled with oil vapor, which immediately caught on to the lighter of a part-timer, and instantly spread to the ceiling.

The guests on each floor hurriedly escaped outside.

However, only the children of the second-floor pub could not come out.

At first, the children thought that the smoke seeping in from somewhere was an event at the hop house.

Then, at the sound of fire, the children hurriedly ran to the door.

But someone blocked the door.

This was the manager of the pub.

He stopped the children by telling them to go.

And when the door was opened due to the sound of an explosion that followed, the flames had already reached the sill and the door could not be opened.

The children started looking for the window, but the window was nowhere to be seen.

It looked like a window from the outside, but it was a wall from the inside.

The manager and staff, who knew the structure of the pub, disappeared, and the children wandered in search of an escape from the darkness.

And then the manager tore off the fan alone and escaped.

Children who lose their mind and fall one by one.

The children, who were awake in it, desperately searched for an exit.

And then I found the emergency exit light and ran.

The children opened the door they thought was an emergency exit.

But it was a bathroom, not an emergency exit.

The children fell like dominoes in the bathroom and died without finding an exit.

There was no way the children could get out of there.

When the police investigation began, the owner of the hop house disappeared immediately.

And through the investigation, it was revealed that Jung had a close relationship with the police and public officials.

Even hope house repairs were ordered by police officers using the police force.

Jung, who surrendered himself five days after the incident, was unbelievably confident.

There were too many corners to believe that it was.

As many as 40 police and civil servants were involved in the incident, the bereaved families were outraged.

In response, they took the children's portraits to the streets and urged punishment of those responsible and measures to prevent recurrence.

But the atmosphere was strange.

The way he looked at the bereaved family wasn't pretty.

People focused on the youth going to the pub, not the fire accident, and criticized the children there that day as rogues.

And to the bereaved family, he sent the gaze of an unscrupulous man trying to get money by selling his children.

The lonely battle between the bereaved family began.

It was the children who comforted the families who were having a hard time getting through day by day.

The friends of the dead children visited their parents every day and told their stories, which was a time of consolation for the bereaved families.

Joint funeral held 90 days after the accident.

The bereaved families threw the remains of the children together in the sea.

Compensation was paid after the funeral.

However, one of the dead did not receive it.

Ji-hye, who was a part-time student at the time, said that she was an employee and was not eligible for payment.

Those responsible for the accident were sentenced to 5 years in prison for Jung, the owner of a pub, and 3 years and 6 months for the manager who fled alone.

And none of the police and civil servants who took the bribe were sentenced to prison.

23 years have passed since the case was closed.

And the children of the survivors who were there that day were already forty years old.

As for the reason they had the courage to stand in front of the microphone, they said they only wished for the word 'hopeop' to be removed from the title of the fire at the 'hope' in Inhyeon-dong.

From then until now, the children said that they were still trapped in the hop house, and now they asked to turn their cold eyes away.

And the broadcast hoped that such accidents caused by unadulterated adults would never happen again, and dreamed of creating a safe and reliable world as soon as possible for children who were more mature than adults.
