For both of them, the announcement of the attempted assassination of Yvan Colonna within the prison of Arles was a "shock".

But the lawyers of Alain Ferrandi and Pierre Alessandri, sentenced like him to life imprisonment for the assassination of the prefect Claude Erignac, will say no more about the feelings of their clients.

Both fear that they may be suspected of any recovery to advance their personal cases.

“This drama highlights for the general public the fight that we have been leading for years, nevertheless specifies Me Françoise Davideau, the lawyer for the first.

Perhaps the aggression will allow a more objective examination of the situation…”

Arrested in 1999 and convicted in 2003, Alain Ferrandi, considered the mastermind of the commando, and Pierre Alessandri, one of its main contractors, have been released since 2017. Like Yvan Colonna, the two separatists, now aged 62 and 63 years old, have been asking for more than ten years to serve the end of their sentence on their native island in order to be closer to their families.

Requests systematically rejected because of their status of “particularly guarded detainee” (DPS) which the executive has always refused to lift.

This status currently includes 240 detainees, mainly from organized crime or terrorism, due to their particular dangerousness or a deemed increased risk of escape.

However, if the Borgo prison, not far from Bastia, is authorized to receive long sentences,

“We are still awaiting the decision of the Prime Minister”

Tuesday evening, in a short press release, Prime Minister Jean Castex announced the lifting of the status of "particularly guarded detainee" of Yvan Colonna, due to the "particular gravity" of his health situation.

A gesture above all symbolic which however did not make it possible to appease the tensions on the island of Beauty, testifies to it the fire which ravaged this night part of the courthouse of Ajaccio.

The head of the executive, on the other hand, said nothing about the situation of the two other members still detained from the Erignac commando.

“I have not received any new information concerning Pierre Alessandri, confides his lawyer Me Eric Borbolosi.

The situation is still the same for 23 years.

“Same story on the side of his colleague, Françoise Davideau.

“We are still awaiting the Prime Minister's decision on whether or not to maintain Alain Ferrandi's registration in the file of particularly guarded detainees.

In 2019 and 2020 for Alain Ferrandi, in 2018, 2019 and 2020 for Pierre Alessandri, the local commission of the Poissy detention center, where both are serving their sentences, came out in favor of lifting this measure.

An advisory opinion, certainly, but very often followed.

Except in this case.

The former Keeper of the Seals, Nicole Belloubet, then the Prime Minister, Jean Castex, who took over the file when Eric Dupond-Moretti, one of Yvan Colonna's lawyers, became Minister of Justice (this could therefore lead to a conflict of interest), have each time opposed it.

A choice that many now consider political, seeing in particular the influence of the prefectural body.

“In 2021, there was not even a commission renewing this status for the year 2022,

Day parole granted, appeal by the prosecution

At the end of February, a new commission was held.

Unlike in recent years, it spoke out, for Alain Ferrandi as for Pierre Alessandri, against the lifting of their DPS status.

"This decision is incomprehensible, nothing has changed in his situation or in his behavior," laments the latter's lawyer, Eric Borbolosi.

Especially since in the meantime, the sentence enforcement court granted him twice, in 2019 and then in 2021, a semi-freedom regime in Borgo prison, each time invalidated after a appeal from the prosecution.

“There is still a problem, we grant a semi-freedom regime but not the lifting of the DPS status, it does not make sense”, continues the council.

In February, Alain Ferrandi experienced the same situation after the National Anti-Terrorist Prosecutor's Office appealed against obtaining his semi-freedom regime, still in Borgo.

The appeal will be heard on April 21.

As for the lifting of the DPS status, the decision is now in the hands of Jean Castex, but no date has been set.
