A couple drowned in their car in France

A couple in their 70s have died in their tidal car in Normandy, northwest France, the rescue service said Monday.

The same source indicated that the man (74 years) and the woman (70 years) called the rescue authority at around 10:00 on Sunday night, and told it that their car had washed up on a flooded road at the time of the tsunami.

And rushed to the site 32 rescuers and divers to rescue the couple.

An ambulance, off-road vehicles and a helicopter of the Civil Defense also participated in the operation.

The process of locating the submerged car was difficult because of the darkness and the high tide, and the helicopter did not succeed in detecting them until around 11:15 at night.

Divers pulled the two passengers out of their car, then took them to land in a lifeboat.

A doctor who attended the scene confirmed their death.

And northern France witnessed on Sunday evening, Storm Franklin, two days after Storm Onnis, which caused great damage.

Another couple in their 70s were killed Sunday afternoon in New Caledonia, a French archipelago in the Pacific Ocean, after their car was swept away by torrential rain.
