Infection with the Omicron strain was confirmed in a female in her 90s or older who lived in Chiba prefecture and died this month.



According to Chiba Prefecture, this woman has an underlying illness, and since her family was positive earlier this month, she underwent a PCR test as a close contact and was found to be infected with the new coronavirus.



After that, he was hospitalized for treatment due to symptoms such as fever, but died on the 11th of this month.



Since the test for the Delta strain was negative, the prefecture confirmed that it was infected with the Omicron strain on the 15th as a result of genome analysis.
