• M6 continues the broadcast of the second season of

    Lego Masters on

    Tuesday.

  • Last week, the public got to know the eight new pairs in competition, some of whom have some common traits with the candidates of the first edition.

  • "There are undoubtedly profiles of Lego fans," replies Eric Antoine, host of the show.

Is there a model of Lego assemblers and assemblers in kit form?

Last year, Belgian rocker dads Alban and Xavier went to the

Lego Masters

final

.

In this new edition, Swiss metalheads Alex and Éric intend to do just as well.

In season 1, the overflowing imagination of Marguerite and Renaud had also conquered the public, as are currently doing Marine and Benjamin, presented as "the retro of the brick".

Are these similarities between the couples, which make the candidates into television characters, the order of chance or of coincidence?

Strong personalities with a unique universe

“There are undoubtedly profiles of Lego fans,” replies Eric Antoine, who runs the program. We find psychologies with which there are bridges: artistic profiles, grown-ups, rather geeky duets… ”If the cast is more feminine than last year, it is just as creative as the previous one, a primordial quality which would explain the resemblance between the pairs of the two seasons. "It is these very strong personalities who will develop a very unique, more artistic universe, and this is also what we are looking for to make the difference," said Paulina Aubey, one of the two brickmasters of the show.

“I think we are dealing with people who have a form of fantasy in them,” says Matthieu Bayle, program director of Endemol France which produces

Lego Masters

.

If gloom is the word that qualifies you the most, then you can go your way.

On the other hand, if you wear kilts at home like Alex and Eric, there is a way that you will catch the eye of production.

“We did not give the candidates a makeover,” assures Matthieu Bayle.

Our Swiss metalheads listen to metal and put on kilts.

Of course, the production tells them to put on the kilts on the first show, that positions them.

We play with codes.

The same goes for Marine and her retro look.

“She's really like that.

If she had had a very average level in bricks, she would not have been part of the cast, ”adds the producer.

François Pignon would not pass the qualifying stage

Two pillars are needed to have a chance to assemble thousands of parts in front of M6's cameras for several tens of hours.

The first is based on creativity and the other on technicality.

In short: is it possible to create a huge pink glitter pig and have it dance on a moving record player?

“Personality matters,” admits Matthieu Bayle.

But we will never take a good personality who does not have a good level in construction.

Lego Masters

is intended to be a competition of excellence.

This was assured by Georg Schmitt, one of the fourteen professionals certified by Lego in the world, before joining the project.

“When I first met the production, I told them that if they wanted to have a stupid dinner or reality TV, you had to forget about me,” he says.

A fan base "much larger than you think"

The production claims to have received more applications than in the first edition.

It's mathematical: when four million people watch the show, it inevitably gives some desire for adventure.

“Today you have people who stay at home because it's hard for them to say that they still play with bricks at their age,” says Georg Schmitt.

So wouldn't all the Lego builders hang out in their kilt at home?

“There are hardcore fans of fantasy universes who find fantastic territory in this, but there are also women, men, children, teens, old people.

It's much wider than you think, ”says Matthieu Bayle.

The audience figures for the first two issues of the season attest to this: on average, they were followed by 2.47 million people.
