On December 28, local time, Korean media said that in the future, Korean-made kimchi packages and containers sold in overseas markets will be marked "Kimchi" to prevent foreign-made kimchi from being sold locally as Korean kimchi.

On the same day, South Korea’s "Agricultural and Fishery Products Quality Management Law" was officially implemented, which allowed kimchi products to add country names.

A person from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of South Korea stated that the passage of the law provides a legal basis for the protection of Korean kimchi.

If a country that has signed a free trade agreement with South Korea circulates and sells Chinese kimchi disguised as Korean kimchi, the product will be destroyed.

According to statistics, 99.9% of South Korea’s imports of kimchi come from China.
