The fight against abusive telephone canvassing is getting organized.
Arcep, the telecoms regulator, proposes, in a press release published on Tuesday, "to reserve the use of mobile numbers in 06-07 exclusively for interpersonal communications services".
Why ?
Because more and more companies are using this type of number, reserved for individuals in the minds of the French, to do canvassing.
To put an end to this practice and "for the sake of legibility for subscribers", Arcep recommends switching "the non-interpersonal uses of mobile numbers to other categories of numbers, such as the new number category in 09 or that of extended length mobile numbers ”.
A public consultation until February 18, 2022
Companies could therefore in the future be forced to use a telephone number starting with 09. These numbers “could for example be used to establish conversations by messages between a sign and its customer, or for very short-term uses. telephone numbers for certain ephemeral contacting situations via a platform (parcel deliverers, VTC drivers, etc.) ”, explains the Authority.
This measure is the subject of a public consultation until February 18, 2022. “Arcep invites all the players concerned (operators, consumer associations, publishers, individuals) to express their views, directly or through the intermediary of their representatives, on this draft decision ”, we can read in the press release.
