The spokesperson of the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated on December 7 that the South Korean side has always supported the complete success of the Beijing Winter Olympics and has always hoped that the Beijing Winter Olympics will contribute to the peace and stability of Northeast Asia and the world as well as the development of relations between South Korea and North Korea.
In response to this, at the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on December 8, Spokesperson Wang Wenbin said that we have taken note of the relevant position of the South Korean side and gave positive comments on this.
Wang Wenbin said that South Korea is the host country of the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics and will host the Gangwon-do Winter Youth Olympics in 2024.
China and South Korea have always supported each other in hosting the Olympics. This is a manifestation of the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries and the demeanor of the Olympic family.
Wang Wenbin said that the Beijing Winter Olympics is a grand event for winter Olympic athletes and ice sports enthusiasts around the world. We believe that under the guidance of the Olympic spirit and the joint efforts of all parties, China will surely present a simple, safe and exciting event to the world. The Olympic Games will jointly promote the vigorous development of the international Olympics.
We also believe that the Beijing Winter Olympics will surely become a peaceful and friendly grand event, which will play an important and positive role in enhancing unity and deepening friendship among the international community.
